There is so much wrong with what Donald Trump said on Monday about Jews – and Democratic Jews in particular – that I have a bit of sympathy for the political reporters who were supposed to synthesize it on deadline. And yet, that’s no excuse for outsourcing the analysis to “critics” and “Democrats” and “Jewish leaders” rather than clearly explaining, in an institutional voice, the many ways in which what Trump said was offensive, false, and highly antisemitic.
Corporate media is desperate to keep Trump in the game. They refuse to cover him honestly as an unfit, brain damaged, compromised by foreign governments, insurrectionist rapist loser fraud. There is no way in hell that Trump should be the presumptive GQP nominee and if the party has chosen to self immolate, that he should be treated as a normal candidate. He is not. He never was. And if nothing else, his disastrous reign of error from 2017 to 2020 should disqualify him.
They do it for the clicks. Articles about this particular racist, misogynistic, hate monger get the most interaction. Today's news media doesn't exist to inform, it exists to make money. If they show him as he is and point out he's weak minded and foolish, people will stop being interested in him and he'll have to crawl back under his rock. They'll lose all the glorious money the outrage earns them. None of them want that.
