When Paul Hume, the music critic at the Washington Post, panned President Harry Truman’s daughter’s singing in her concert back in 1950, Truman wrote him a letter and said if they ever met he would give Hume a black eye. Now all these critics are really panning the film about Melania that Jeff Bezos paid for. Now let’s watch and see if Trump uses his presidential power to go after those critics! Truman just acted like a man, but he didn’t sic the government on Hume. I will be interested to see if those critics are investigated.
Mr. Froomkin, please take care for your personal safety and freedom. Trump's goons will come for us all before long but those such as yourself in the press will be among the first to go behind bars.
Mr Froomkin, you’re one of the best reporters out there. Thank you. Please review Epstein files released today and allegations that many documents were pulled back shortly after release, but not before many captured them through screenshots.
As usually, Dan, you've nailed it. And once again I am certain that your advice will fall on deaf ears. Corporate owned legacy media over the past year have demonstrated that they have moved from complicity in getting Trump re-elected to collaboration with the Regime. They have doubled down on the idea that they can "report the news" without upsetting Trump (or thereby risking corporate profits.) It's an impossible task, which Trump knows.
He has them on a leash, which explains the pivot to independent journalists. More specifically, to independent journalists who are Black, because Black Americans always get the shaft first. But anyone who thinks they aren't coming for you and Ben Meiselas and Aaron Parnas and Heather Cox Richardson and Robert Reich and Paul Krugman and YOU has not been paying attention. Here's hoping the judiciary steps up to the plate but we know exactly how much respect the Regime has for the judicial branch: none at all.
Haven't seen another word about the seizure of the Natanson computers ... the government was ordered to not "hack" them but who will enforce that? The rule of law and the Constitution are under the bus and the wheels are making a crunching noise.
When the New York Times and the Washington Post refuse to advocate for freedom of the press, it's a sure sign that the Apocalypse is near. One of many....
